If your device can see an SSID that contains "Fast" in the name, that device is able to connect to either the 5 GHz AND 2.4 GHz bands. To determine which to use, check out the descriptions of these networks below:

  • A 5 GHz WiFi network will provide the fastest speeds for devices that support it. This network is less susceptible to interference but does not provide as much range as 2.4 GHz
  • A 2.4 GHz WiFi band is slower, but it provides the largest coverage (or range.) That band is also compatible ┬ámost devices though 5 GHz is pretty common now.

About Guest Networks

  • Guest Networks provide your guests with full internet access but keeps them from accessing anything from your private network.

Plume

If you are using Plume for WiFi, there will only be one SSID. It supports all 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz devices.
